Fish Park Opens August 8 — Calgary’s Tallest Slide Comes to Wolf Willow

Fish Park opens August 8, 2026 on Wolf River Drive SE in Wolf Willow, and it’s bringing something exciting for SE Calgary: the tallest slide in the city. This signature feature is a 3.5-storey engineered-wood tower and slide complex, surpassing the current record held by Radio Park in West District, which opened in September 2025. It’s the first engineered-wood playground system in Calgary, and it sits steps from the Bow River. Mark the date.

What Is Fish Park in Wolf Willow? 

Fish Park is a brand-new playground on Wolf River Drive SE in Wolf Willow, southeast Calgary, built around a 3.5-storey tower and slide that claims the title of Calgary’s tallest slide in 2026. 

The design is entirely engineered wood — a first for Calgary — giving the whole structure a look and feel that’s more treehouse than typical playground equipment. Alongside the tall main tower, there are rope climbing structures, rock walls, and swings. There’s also a dedicated toddler thematic play area built for younger kids who aren’t ready for the big climb yet. Wolf Willow’s pathway network runs along the park, connecting directly to the Bow River and the Fish Creek Park trail system. 

The August 8 opening is a full celebration: 

• Fish-themed games and activities for kids 

• Food trucks and giveaways 

• A chance to tour Wolf Willow show homes

How Many Playgrounds Does Wolf Willow Have?

Wolf Willow has three playgrounds: Osprey Park, Wolf Park, and Fish Park (opening August 8, 2026). Each one serves a different age group, from toddler play areas to Calgary’s tallest slide and a parkour course for older kids and adults.

Fish Park doesn’t stand alone. Wolf Willow already has two established parks, with three more planned, and together they form a connected pathway system running through the community. 

Osprey Park at 54 Wolf Creek Manor SE is designed for young children who are just starting to move around and kids who love imaginative play. The bird-themed playground features: 

• A central osprey nest climber with a bridge and two slides 

• Rock, log, and rope climbers 

• A 2-storey central tower 

• Baby swings alongside regular swings 

• Accessible flooring throughout the entire play area 

Wolf Park at 55 Wolf Hollow Crescent SE is built for older kids ready for more of a challenge and fitness and sports area that are fun for adults too. It includes: 

• A four-storey play structure for younger and school-aged children 

• Accessible play equipment so every child can join in 

• A fitness and parkour area for older kids and adults 

• A multiuse sports court, that can be used for Basketball and Pickleball  

• Pathways connecting to Fish Park, the Bow River, and the Woof Willow Dog Park

Is Wolf Willow a Good Community for Families with Young Kids?

Yes, and the playgrounds are a big part of the answer, but there are so many reasons Wolf Willow is built with active families in mind. 

Wolf Willow sits in a sheltered valley, bordered by Fish Creek Park to the north and the Bow River to the east. It’s quieter than most SE Calgary communities built along busier corridors. The valley setting means less wind, less noise, and more of that feeling of being tucked away from the city — even though you’re still in it. 

Fish Creek Park spans 1,300+ hectares with over 100 km of trails. It’s the second largest urban pars in Canada, established in 1975, and Wolf Willow pathways connect directly into it. You don’t need a car to get there. 

The Bow River runs along the community’s eastern edge. It’s one of the top three trout streams in the world, so if your family loves to fish, you have one of the best spots in the country at your doorstep. Pathways along the river give kids and parents a place to walk, bike, and be outside without fighting traffic or looking for parking.  

SE Calgary has grown a lot over the past decade, but direct river access for communities remains rare. Wolf Willow sits on some of the best land in the valley, and it’s built for first-time and move-up buyers, not just high-end estates. 

Dogs are part of the family at Wolf Willow too. The Woof Willow dog park is a 9 acre off leash park with lots of space to run and fetch right in the community. Featuring a large-dog park, small-dog park, and agility equipment, this dog park is one of a kind.
